The following are verbatim e-mails from June 22nd and June 24th respectively. Some names have been Xed out to be kind to them who are involved. "Hello Tom, This is XXXXX again, you thought you were done with me. One of the guards approached XXXX and told her that we could write a letter to the Judge and ask for a reduced sentence so she could enter the drug rehabilitation program. She said that it wouldn’t hurt XXXX in any way so it was a chance worth taking. I was wondering if you still have a copy of the three letters that you showed the State Attorney. It would be helpful. If so please respond as soon as you can by email or phone. Thanks again. XXXXX" "In a few rare cases I have previously been able to get people out of jail with a "letter to the Judge" only in cases where it was the Judge that decided the person's sentence. In this case we negotiated a sentence with the State. You are more than welcome to send the Judge anything you like, but you will most certainly receive a letter from him (as I have received copies of such correspondence on several occassions) informing you that the Judge cannot change a sentence that is the product of a negotiation between the State and the Defendant without the agreement of the State. Tom" June 25th a letter was sent to Judge XXXXX requesting an early release into a drug rehab program. July 1st a letter was sent to Tom the attorney from Judge XXXXX stating: "Dear Mr. TXXXXXXXX: Enclosed is a copy of a letter from the parents of your former client, XXXXX. I have no objection to releasing her early from her Nassau Court Jail Sentence, provided that she is placed immediately in the Salvation Army's Non-secure Drug Treatment Program. Once a bed is available, I will order her released." You see when there is no other way God will make away. Because He is the God of the possible! As of this morning July 7th, Tom is working on the release, it is expected this week. Thank you Jesus! July 11th, 2008 God poured out His favor! XXXXX was released from her jail sentence 80 days early and is now in a rehab program. We were told that there were only two slots available with six people needing them. XXXXX was selected to fill one of the slots. Thank you God for your favor! |
